Recovery of missing persons top priority, AG tells SC

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Attorney General Munir A Malik has ensured Supreme Court that he would go to the last extent for the recovery of all missing persons.

During proceedings of missing persons case on Monday, AG informed the SC’s bench that he has established a missing person cell in his office as he takes the matter seriously.

He said that he would present the list of the cases regarding the missing persons after categorizing them in the court very soon.

The head of the bench Justice Jawwad S Khawaja showed resentment over not arranging the meeting of a missing person, ZakirUllah, who is detained in the interrogation center Lakki Marwat with his family.

He directed AG to organize the meeting at an early date or else the action against incharge of the interrogation center would be initiated.

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said in his remarks that the people are detained in the interrogation center years after years like Guantanamo Bay. No cases were registered against them.

“Now enough is enough as these persons must be freed. The relatives of the missing persons come with a hope to meet with their dear ones but every day they back to their homes disappointed”, he added.

The bench observed that hundreds of people are missing for the last many years but there is no one to inquire about them. Apparently some security agencies are involved in the missing of the people.
