People won’t tolerate any change against constitution: Iftikhar Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the people will not tolerate any change against the constitution of the country, saying that it will be misunderstanding of anybody who thinks that the constitution of the country will be neglected.

Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was addressing at a ‘Eid Milan’ reception ceremony hosted by the lawyers in his honour in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that he has sent notice to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran khan, saying that he will move ahead according to the law.

He said that he has firm belief n the rule of law in the country, saying that the journey of rule of law which started on March 9, 2007 is still in progress.

He said that there is rule of law in the country and the change in the constitution can only be made by the elected representatives of the parliament through two-third majority, saying that nothing can be done other than constitution.

Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that it will spread anarchy in the country if people were not provided rights according to the constitution of the country.

He further said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the protection of the rights of the people according to the constitution.

He said that the government should raise voice on every forum for ending the cruelties being inflicted upon the innocent Palestinians, saying that innocent children and women are being targeted in Gaza.
