No question of Nawaz Sharif resigning from premiership: Dar

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar terming the PTI’s demand of resignation from Prime Minister as unconstitutional has said that there is no question that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will resign.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the government is ready to negotiate with anyone while remaining within the ambit of democracy and constitution. He said the government through its consultative process with political parties has reached at a consensus that there will be no compromise on democracy, constitution and parliament.

Dar said that PTI’s long march wasn’t less than any drama, adding that political parties should abstain from such dramas to protect democracy and political system from derailing. We are fighting in North Waziristan against terrorism and in current circumstances country can not afford the de-stability.

He said a committee has been formed for electoral reforms and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leaders should contact them.

Earlier commenting on one-year economic performance, he said the government has performed tremendously in financial terms, especially in reducing budget deficit to 5.7 percent from 8.2 percent, trade deficit to 19.98 billion US dollars from 20.49 billion dollars, significantly less government borrowings from State Bank of Pakistan which stood at 303 billion rupees as compared to 2012-13 figures at 1446 billion rupees.

The finance minister told that during fiscal year 2013-14, the growth rate remained at 4.14 percent, which significantly improved in comparison to previous year, while per capita incomes has also been increased from 1340 US dollar to 1386 US dollars. He said industrial sector also grew by 3.9 percent during July to May 2012-13. He said FBR revenues stood at 2266 billion rupees with 16.44 percent increase.

Ishaq Dar said current foreign exchange reserves are 14.1 billion US dollars. He said 9.1 billion US dollars are with State Bank of Pakistan, while 5 billion US dollars are with commercial banks.

He said all financial indicators are doing well and that is why today international institutions are ready to work with Pakistan.

He said loan between Pakistan and World Bank on Dasu Dam project will be signed in next two weeks. He said all financial plan of the project is also ready.

He said to overcome energy crisis, the government has been 6900 megawatts power projects are under construction, while another 9000 megawatts projects are under consideration.
