Hurriyat (G) slams Bhat’s detention

SRINAGAR, (SANA): All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) has condemned the detention of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Batpora Bagaat, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in place of his son, terming it the act of ‘state terrorism and lawlessness’.

“Following frequent police raids on his residence, Mansoor Hassan went into hiding to avoid the arrest. But the police on July 31 and arrested his father Ghulam Hassan Bhat and took him to some unknown place,” said the Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement, adding, “When daughters of Ghulam Hassan visited concerned police station to see their father, they were pressurized to give in writing that their brother has crossed the border for arms training.”

“When they protested outside the police station, police used teargas shelling against the people, protesting the injustice done to Bhat’s family resulting in injuries to 9-year-old Toufeeq Nabi Bhat and 10-year-old girl Zainab,” Akbar added, demanding immediate release of Ghulam Hassan Bhat.

Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned continued house detention of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah and Raja Mehraj-ud-din.
