Fresh missile strike leaves six dead in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH, (SANA): A suspected US missile strike on Sunday killed at least six people in an area of North Waziristan tribal region.

Security sources said the attack was carried out in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area where a drone aircraft fired multiple missiles on a house suspected of being a hideout of militants.

The strike left four people dead, according to preliminary reports. Identification of those dead was not known as security forces and local people reached the site.

A US drone fired two missiles at a compound surrounded by thickets in Manzar Khel area in Datta Khel near Pak-Afghan border, west of Miranshah.

Tribesmen say drones were hovering over the area since afternoon spreading panic among the residents.

The drones fired two missiles at the compound killing the suspected militants.

Fire erupted in the compound after which local militants reached the spot and shifted the bodies to an undisclosed location.

According to a report US drone strikes have killed up to 3,581 people in Pakistan, including as many as 884 civilians and 197 children since 2004.

Pakistan government and Opposition both have been criticizing such attacks as a violation of country’s sovereignty.
