PESHAWAR, (SANA): Funeral prayer of ANP leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour was offered at Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium here on Sunday, which was attended by leaders of political parties and thousands of people. Later on his dead body was buried in Syed Hasan Badshah Beri Bagh graveyard.
On the other hand the police have registered an FIR of the gory incident of a suicide bombing that killed Saturday evening ANP central leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour along with eight others, including his secretary and two police officials.
Police said that the FIR has been registered against unknown persons under different sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Further investigations are in progress, police said.
ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Chief Minister KPK Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar, elder brother of Bashir Bilour, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Pir Sabir Shah, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sher Pao, Akram Durrani, Anwer Saifullah, Senator Ghulam Ali sons of Bashir Bilour Usman Bilour and Haroon Billour and a large number of ANP workers besides representatives of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid ( PML-Q) among others, were present in the funeral procession.
A national day of mourning has been announced by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf over the tragedy. The national flag was flown at half-mast on Sunday in the honour of the ANP leader.
The provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also announced day of mourning.
Bashir Bilour was targeted by a suicide bomber after an ANP public gathering leaving him seriously injured. He was shifted to the Lady Ready Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Razaq Khan Police Station and personal secretary of the minister had been on the spot.
Strict security measures were adopted at the stadium, which was sealed off before the funeral prayers.
Security arrangements of the stadium were handed over Pak army and FC.
Earlier on Sunday, funeral prayer of Bilour’s personal secretary Noor Muhammad was also held in high school Kakshal.
Basher Bilour was buried at Syed Hassan Pir Badshah Berry Bagh graveyard in Peshawar.
Meanwhile, national flag was hoisted at half-mast across the country as federal government had announced mourning for one day over the demise of ANP leader.
Provincial government of KP province announced three-day mourning while Awami National Party will be observing ten-day mourning.
Earlier on Sundayy, funerals of Bilour’s personal secretary Haji Noor Mohammad Khan were held in Peshawar.
Earlier on Sunday Bashir Bilour’s eldest son Haroon Bilour reached Peshawar from Dubai to attend his father’s funeral. On the other hand the son of Billour, Usman Billour said that he and his brother would also render their lives like their father but would continue fighting terrorism.
Shutter down strike was observed in Quetta against assassination of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senior minister and ANP leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour.
Awami National Party (ANP) had called for strike in the provincial capital against assassination of Bashir Bilour and others martyred in the suicide blast in Peshawar on Saturday. Major markets in the city were remained closed while traffic was also very thin.
However, security personnel were deployed in different areas to avert any untoward incident.
