Coaching Afghanistan represents a new challenge: Rashid Latif

KABUL, (SANA): Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has reached Kabul to start his coaching assignment with the Afghanistan cricket team.

Addressing his first press conference in Kabul, a former wicketkeeper-batsman brushed aside security concerns and said this matter is not for him to ponder. “That is not my concern I am being well looked after and my job is to focus on the coaching assignment,” said Latif

On a question Latif said he saw a lot of talent in the Afghanistan team and was confident that with some specialised coaching, the team had the capability to move up.

“The players are very keen to do well for their country, they have lot of pride and energy and that is a great sign,” said Latif who has played 37 test matches for Pakistan.

Rashid Latif will formally start working with the team at a camp in Jalalabad from tomorrow (July 27). During his six-day stay in Jalalabad, Rashid Latif will return to Pakistan before accompanying the Afghan team on a tour to Scotland.
