MANCHESTER (SANA): A mother from Epsom had a reunion with double the emotion and double the relief as her two sons returned home from fighting in Afghanistan.
WMUR was at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to capture the moment.
Kathy Snedeker said having two sons serving overseas has been incredibly difficult, and having them both home safe is all a mother could ever ask for.
It’s the moment she said she has been waiting for. Her two sons returned on leave from Afghanistan.
The whole family was at the airport to welcome them back to New Hampshire.
Pfc. Khris Picott hugged his fiancé. Spc. Jaymes Picott’s 10-month-old daughter, Ashlyn, was a bit shy, as she hadn’t seen her father in a long time.
“She has missed daddy a lot,” Brianne Picott said. “She says, ‘Dada,’ all the time.”
The two brothers deployed together with the New Hampshire Army National Guard. They said they have a dangerous mission with the 172nd mountain infantry, but they also have each other.
“It’s kind of scary at times when he goes out and I don’t go out with him, but other than that it’s nice,” Jaymes Picott said.
“It’s relief because if you need somebody to talk to, he’s always there for me, and I’m there for him,” Khris Picott said. “It makes the time go by a lot faster.”
Now, they’ll have some time to reconnect with their families. It’s the first time Jaymes Picott will get to see his daughter walk.
Their brother, John, is also serving with the National Guard. So far, he hasn’t been deployed with his brothers.
“It’s difficult having two over there and thinking John might go, but I’m just thankful they’re together,” Snedeker said.
The two brothers will be home on leave for two weeks, and then they will go back to Afghanistan. They are scheduled to return home again in November.
