Australia beat Pakistan by 150 runs in 1st test

LONDON, (SANA): Australia has beaten Pakistan by 150 runs on the fourth day of the first test at Lord’s on Friday as Pakistan was bowled out for 289 before tea while attempting to chase a world record victory target of 440.

Pakistan were bowled out for 150 as Australia, in the first ‘neutral’ Test played in England since 1912, won with more than a day to spare.

In the match, Marcus North came out to be the bowling hero as he claimed six wickets to be the surprise match-winner on Friday

Another occasional bowler and medium-pacer, Shane Watson, was the bowling hero in the first innings with 5-40.

The victory gave Australia a record 13th straight successive Test victory over the same opponent, although Sri Lanka’s run of 12 wins in a row over Bangladesh is also still ongoing.

Australia were also indebted to opener Simon Katich for scores of 80 and 83 in a match where batsmen on both sides struggled.

Pakistan’s Salman Butt scored his side’s only two fifties. But having made 63 in the first innings, his dismissal by North for 92 on Friday was the catalyst for Pakistan’s final collapse.

The second and final Test will start on Wednesday at Headingley.
