FBR begins drive to take traders in confidence over VAT

KARACHI (SANA): Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Sohail Ahmed said Sunday that the imposition of Value-Added Tax (VAT) would be made only when the parliament would approve it and the traders’ reservations are removed.

In a briefing to traders of Federal B. Area Association about the VAT, Sohail said that Parliament was informed of the only way to enhance the revenues and rid of the debt was the removal of traders’ reservations, a private television channel reported.

He said that a committee under the headship of Asrar Rauf was constituted in order to examine the nature of the problems faced by traders.
