Match-fixing scandals aimed at damaging image: Wasim
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram said that match-fixing scandals had always been a conspiracy aiming at damaging players’ image, a website stated.
This he said after reading reports according to which Kamran Akmal and Rana Naved were being investigated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (BCB) for match-fixing.
Wasim has left for India to perform duties of a bowling consultant for Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders.
He said the Kamran and Rana were not involved in match-fixing, adding that such scandals were linked to national cricket players in order to damage the image of Pakistani cricket.
“In any other country no one can make such accusations and not face legal complications but in Pakistan it happens regularly and it disturbs our players a lot,” he added.
He declared it a tragedy that such accusations were being made for year against Pakistani players without any evidence.
