Assemblies’ conferences help ensure coordination: Speaker NA
LAHORE, (SANA): National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza said on Wednesday that the parliamentary proceedings would be improved as the conferences of all the provincial assemblies and national assembly would ensure better coordination.
This she said while talking to media after the conclusion of a three-day 16th Speakers Conference at the Punjab Assembly building.
She said that 16 agenda items were discussed in the moot adding three deferred items of the last moot of previous assemblies were also included in the said 16 items.
The NA speaker said that the conference also discussed the ways for uniformity in the functioning of Senate, National Assembly, provincial assemblies and legislative assemblies of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
To a query, she said that the National Assembly’s constitutional committee was constituted with representation of all the political parties and the federal units in order to work on constitutional amendments so that the Constitution of 1973 could be restored in its original shape.
She said the committee was a powerful forum adding it would soon present its recommendations in the parliament.
She further said that, in order to provide parliamentary services to public representatives, an institution was being established under USAID programme.
